For all my gauged hoops, the process involves a torch, hammer and hoop mandrels to make the perfect form. A lot of time goes into making each one with a lot of polishing to give it a smooth, shiny finish. To open and close the hoops, simply twist the ends open enough to slip through the ear. Preferably worn through tunnels.
